Internal Wall Insulation
Mount internal stud-walls with mineral batts or thermal insulation boards to shield solid-brick rooms from cold.
Service Overview
Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) is an excellent alternative to external insulation for solid-wall homes, especially if you live in a conservation area or want to preserve the historic brick frontage of your property. We install high-performance insulation boards directly to the inner face of the external walls, or construct a wooden stud frame filled with mineral wool slabs. The wall is then drylined with plasterboard and finished with a smooth plaster skim. This creates an extremely warm building envelope from the inside.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much space will I lose inside the room?
The finished insulation layer is typically between 70mm and 100mm thick, which will reduce the room width slightly but makes it dramatically warmer.
Do skirting boards and radiators need to be moved?
Yes. We temporarily remove radiators, skirting boards, coving, and light switches, and reinstall them neatly over the new insulated wall.
