Room In Roof Insulation
Convert cold attic rooms into warm, energy-efficient spaces with premium thermal roof boarding and plaster finishing.
Service Overview
If you have a loft conversion or an attic room accessed by a fixed staircase, insulating it requires specialized room-in-roof techniques. Standard loft insulation isn't enough because the heat escapes through the sloping pitch of the roof and the upright stud walls. We install high-performance rigid PIR insulation boards directly between and over the roof rafters and behind the walls. We then finish the walls with fire-resistant plasterboard, ready for your decorators. This transforms an otherwise drafty loft room into a cozy, fully habitable living space.
Key Benefits & Efficiency Gains
Frequently Asked Questions
Does room-in-roof insulation require planning permission?
No, this is classified as an energy-efficiency retrofit and does not require planning approval as long as you aren't changing the external shape of the roof.
Can this reduce roof space?
It reduces room dimensions slightly (by about 50-70mm) to allow for the insulated drylining boards, but the thermal benefits are immense.
